Just give it a go. It might work. Won't do any harm. Why do you have your console in 1080i? 720p is a better resolution for games.

If you want to run it in HD, yes you do. If you just want 640x840, over the entire panel, all you need is a composite cable. Check if his Plasma has Component video in, if not, and you are using the standard cable that came with the console...sorry no HD for you.

Plasmas actually produce a better quality image. But burn-in is still an issue, even with pixel rotation technologies. If he has just the Yellow, red and white RCA inputs, you my friend will not be watching HD on that plasma!

Use 720p PLEASE! 1080i is actually 540p, upscalled. Also if you get a chance, buy the HD VGA cable for the console. It will make a drastic improvement to the game.

I play PGR 3 on 1080i. Even though my samsung DLP has a native resoltuion of 720p I feel like the image looks better at 1080i. On a smaller TV below 35 inch there is no way to tell the difference but greater than that you might just might notice something. On 1080i the images are brighter and more clear than 720p. Bytheway my TV is 43inch so its no that noticable. If I had like a 50+ I would leave it at 1080i since the interacanced picture is still at a higher resolution than the 720p even though you are only see half the picture every 1/60th of a second. (By half I mean even lines then odd lines)

That is a fair point. It was an issue when I used the Component cable to my TV, but now I use the VGA. This allows me to get my native res (1360x768) and it just looks incredible. PGR is still a disappointed, since the game wasn't rendered at 720p in the first place. I have heard of a few reasons why this was the case (i.e. the 10Mb D-RAM buffer on the GPU didn't allow a full 720p image to be rendered at once) but lets leave speculation alone, and just look forward to the mouth-watering games that will be gracing the 360 very soon. MotoGP 06 anyone?
