halo 2 only used about 40% of the disk space, so why do you think it wouldn't be enough? that article's misleading because you can compress standard disks like that to 2.5x so you can get about 22 gigabytes of space out of it.don't worry, there's more than enough space.

then they'll probably put out an hd-dvd compatible xbox360.

Posts: 1,875 | Yeah, as smerf01 pointed out, Halo 2 used up 3.5gigs of the availbale 9.5gig on the dvd or about 40%. Imagine then, producing a game twice as big/complex as Halo 2; it still all fits on one disc. So once games start exclipsing Halo 2 by roughly 2.71 times, then the issue of 2 dvd discs will come into play. When will that happen, well, hard to gage. Probably by the last 1-2 years of the consoles life, or around 2009. Don't fret over this "doomsday" scenario. It is negative propaganda, intended to scare. |

Posts: 712 | God forbid we get off the couch, ruin our *** groove and change the discs!
Now would you pay an extra $50-$100 for a blu-ray/hd-dvd drive just so games don't come on multiple discs?
If the answer is yes, go buy a PS3.

Posts: 820 | i'd actually pay $50 -$100 for a blu-ray/hd-dvd drive, since i have a HDTV and im gonna want to watch movies in HD, and that would be cheaper than buying new players when the first blu-ray players came out they were like $1000, and that was a year ago, so paying a little extra is eorth it

Posts: 287 | Look people, you need to take in consideration that games like Enchant Arm, Oblivion and other RPGS are always a lot bigger than FPS, Racing, Sport, Fighting and other games (which are the most common). However it isn't a bad thing, remember that you'll be playing around 20- 40 hours before you'll need to change the disc with those games, and that isn't by any means a big deal.
Think about it like this:
Would you prefer to have paid ~100 more for the console and wait 6 more months just to have the games put in 1 disc?
My answer would be: Hell no!!
Chill out. |

HD is not High Definition... It stands for High Density... all the 360 games will be in high def. |

But I don't think that was the point he was trying to make...
I'm under the impression that he thinks that HD-DVD and blu-ray will provide better picture quality, which they do. |

Posts: 820 | right but if you have more space then you can have better picture quality, eg. Blu-Ray can hold like what 35 gig? the average dvd now is like 4 gigs, you can make the video quality a lot better to fill up the disc thats what i meant. you say that you can have a dvd quality movie onto several CD-Roms and not lose quality, you could have several dvd's and it could be the same quality as an HD-DVD movie

I wouldn't be surprised if movie makers, at the beginning of this format cycle, don't give you better sound or video (or they will give you minor imporvements) and just shove the extra features on one disc, and give you more extra features. And many people when they hear HD-DVD, they think High Definition, I know it's High Density, but for consumers, they will see that HD-DVDs and HDTVs are meant for higher quality video and sound. whereas blu-ray, unless you say blu-ray disc, they won't have a clue what the hell "a blu-ray" is, and chances are if you say blu-ray disc they'll be even more confused. |
