Posts: 38 | 360 Already Peaking, PS3 Hardly Tapped Into. Valve: "HL2 Orange uses 94% of Xbox 360's power, No use of PS3's SPU's"

PSU: What is the primary advantage with the technologies for next-gen? Are there differences between the 360 and PS3 that you found aided you in the game?
Valve: We defintiely feel next-gen technology aided truly in our development process. You know---you have complexer AI, you have more characters to work with, an enhanced ability to work with the animations on a higher scale--all that stuff. The only difference between the 360 and PS3--which both as a collective helped us develop The Orange Box is definitely there. For the 360 version of the game, we can probably say we are using around 93-94% of the console's power given our current optimization. With the PS3, we can't exactly say what power cap we reached, since no developer really knows where the boundary is for the PS3. We can tell you that in terms of the whole game together on the PS3, we are not even using the SPU's and it is purely built on the graphics card and Cell. We're still optimizing for PS3 more because we can, which can explain the slight delay to you. But no worries, everything is going smoothly to put down any rumors.
lol.lol.lol.lol
Sounds like sony has paid someone to be on their team.

Posts: 5,094 | Where is their proof they have utilized "93-94%" of the 360's power? Sounds like they are just talking out of their ass if you ask me. You just can't bust out figures without facts to back up your claims. Complexer? What douche from Valve said "complexer"? I doubt this is a legit Valve statement but if it is IDGAF. We'll see what they say when Halo 3 comes out. |

but one thing is Valve are not biast, they are legend for their PC games and halflife 1 & 2 had close ties with mircosoft when in development, and when HL2 code was stolen MS helped in finding the hackers, and i see nor reason they would lie for sonys purpose so maybe you should just take the answer as it is? as it may be 100% true who knows. | |

Posts: 1,579 | All the games that are on both systems so far have been better received on Xbox due to better frame rate, graphics, animations, online, etc. So it would be wise to assume that the Xbox version will be better. Even when games like Rainbow Six come out much later on PS3 it is still better on Xbox. |

Everyone, and their mother missed that. It's the percentage of how much it's possible to tap at this point in time for them. Not to mention that since it's multiplatt it's won't take advantage of some of the 360's best features.
At one point EA said that Icon used 100%
This is just a way to get 1-2 Halo fans to reconsider their purchase |

Posts: 140 | How can this be true, if one of Valve's leading personal regard the PS3 as 'a total disaster'.

Posts: 2,538 | yea, valves head honcho said in an interview in OXM that sony should do a "REDO" because the PS3 was a total disaster. Im sure they have just flipped sides... riiiiiight.
sony is known for false reports and lies. its par for the course for them. if there is any truth what so ever, expect valve to come out w/ a counter statement. |
