Thumbs up Xbox 360 crapped out, couldn't be happier.....

ok my friends so the story goes like this, my girlfriend bought me the 360 for christmas last year, and i never had a problem, until this week, halo 3 started freezing up, then the boot up screen, then the menu. needless to say, i became very irritated, my first instinct was to call M$ to see if they could ship me a new one, but chances are it would prob be a refurbished console anyway, remembering the my girl had purchased an extended warranty at babagges (now the evil gamestop) i gave them a call, left my hard drive at home, went to the store, talked to the guy working there explained and my situation, and he walked to the backroom, spoke to the manager, and came out with a shiny new xbox 360 premium bundled with forza 2 and marvel ultimate alliance, upon further inspection, it also has the hdmi port, and the guy didnt take the hard drive out like he was supposed to, so i got 2 20 gb hds now, and my stupid headset was broken, that was replaced as well, all at no cost to me. lemme say, some people may hate gamestop but dear lord did they hook me up. im soo happy i could piss myself!!!!!

HAHA. Babbage's was taken over by Game Stop in the mid-1990's when Babbage's was going through their Chapter 11 reorganization. The Game Stop name is newer than Babbage's, but you've been buying from the same corporations all along. Too funny.

No apology necessary. I just think its funny, like that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine thought she was screwing over one shopkeeper by making her purchases elsewhere, only to find out both stores were owned by the same person. Maybe you should go into Game Stop and steal all the desiccants LOL.

TBH, you need a screwdriver and a microscope to know for sure.

Talking

I got my console a month after launch at Best Buy and got their 2 year product replacement program for an aditional $50. 2 years later my 360 has no major problems, but does run loud so I decide to take it back to BB a week before my prp expires. For $120 I upgraded to an Elite console and a new 2 year prp. so for $120 I got
-my pretty black console
-exchange my broken white controller for a new black one
-a quieter xbox
-a new black headset (which I wont use because I have my wireless one)
-an hdmi port
-an hdmi cord
-mavel ultimate alliance and forza
-exchange my 20 gb hard drive for a 120
-a new 2 year prp so I can do this again in 2009 (this was $70 of the cost)

I feel like I got my moneys worth.

congrats on getting a new console ! I got a similar 1 year extended warranty from EB Games when i got mine for $50.

While there are no major issues with my current 360 (games and dashboard freeze every now and then, and ive had 3 red rings once but it never came back after a reboot) im thinking of doing what you did a few weeks out of the 1 year being up to get a new quieter, hdmi enabled xbox. Though when I called in they said it would be a refurbished unit they replace it with so I'm looking forward to a fight since they advertised it as a brand new replacement when I got it.

Nice bonus getting an extra hdd too !!! While i don't expect another hdd i will definately be taking mine off before i return and hoping for the best :P

Mind you knowing my luck i will get a new one that RROD's right out of the box and I'll have to send it in to M$ and get a refurbished one anyways (EB Games no longer offer the extended warranty)

Perhaps he was being nice about the HD. Idk, my Gamestop here is rare. I've never known of Gamestop to be full of dumb employees or anything, where I live they are smart and nice and helpful.

I have to agree. The employees at the Gamestop I shop near my work do a great job. I guess its the law of averages; 1 out of 100 stores will have a competent staff.
