Default Pro vs Elite

Hi
I have seen a couple of threads about the Elite Console, but none really display the pros and cons of getting either of the consoles. I have just sold my Wii and am not sure which console to get the Pro or the Elite, Is the money worth it? So far I haven't seen any Elite consoles that come with games and yet most of the Pro's come with Viva Piniata and Forza.

Could people who own the Pro and the Elite console please comment and tell me what they think of each of the 2 consoles.

Thanks

Since Pros now have HDMI the differences the Elite provides is color, 6x the HDD storage and a play and charge kit. Truthfully, you should pick up an Pro and use your savings for extra games and controllers. Most of us come nowhere near filling the Pro's 20GB HDD.

He meant you should pick up a PRO and spend your savings on games, and he is absolutely right. You should never be able to fill the 20 gigs unless you dont delete old demos and stuff. I have 5 cds on my HDD, countless themes and gamer pictures, a few demos, and more Halo 3 videos and screenshots than you can imagine. I have 9 gigs free.

The Pro is good but if you are a heavy gamer, and use alot of memory, the Elite is best.I personally have an Elite b/c they are more up to date(being the newest version of the 360)

I am not really a HEAVY gamer, and i dont imagine i would use up a lot of memory. The only other reason i would buy the elite is because i LOVE the way it looks, i no its not really worth it paying all that extra but it just looks so damn good, lol. Thanks for everyones help. I will probly just buy a Pro.

BTW has anyone seen any elite packages that come with games??? cause i havent

Not sure about down under, but the Pros and Elites are packaged with Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance here.

PS If you don't like the look of the Pro, you can always skin it or pick up a new faceplate.

In austraila the Pro console comes with Viva pinata and forza 2 but im yet to see a Elite that comes with games.

Also witht he Faceplates are they good quality, by this i mean do you have to like take of the original face plate or does it just go on. and also does it fall off or is it secured tightly???

but after hearing everyones opinions i think i will just go the pro.

Thanks

dude, get the pro, its plenty, and if you ever find you need more storage (i have consistently over 6 gb free at any point in time) just buy the add-on hard drive. go with what karma said, buy the pro, it comes with forza 2 and marvel ultimate alliance, and buy a couple games with the savings.

I'd sway toward the Elite. I am also in Australia and recently had a Pro. Now hte Pro costs $579 now at retail. The ELite costs $729, a difference of $150. However If you decide you want a bigger 120gb Hard Drive it will cost you $220 to upgrade. Also, the Elite comes with a HDMI cable as well in the box. The premiums dont. Viva Piniata can be bought in stores for $30, and Forza 2, Big W has on sale for $40 (normally $100). So its only $70 of value anyways.
Personally if you have a few demos, music, you'll use up your space, depends if you like to watch or play something then dump it, or keep it for later. I also think if your going to download the XBox Orginals, be sure to remember they are a couple of GIG in size each, and thats going to go fast.
With the Elite you wont have that problem of space. And the 120GB Hardrive looks terrible on a Pro, its different in colour and all that.

Plus it'll cost you more if you ever want the space. Trust me, just get the Elite cause its more cost effective than a Pro and then upgrading the hard drive.

Boost
Oh just for the record, the Wii was $388 in Australia, down from $400, and the Core was also reduced (Arcade Pack as well) to $388.

Its funny to see the Core and Arcade side by side in stores both for $388? One would think the Core would be sold for $330 or something to move the last of the dead stock.

After re-reading my own post it looks like I've had a Pro recently (ie Prostitute).

Oh dear!

I find it hard to imagine needing a 120gb hd.
I have had my Pro since launch (nov of 2005) and its not even half full.... The fact that you can plug your ipod into the xbox makes loading music onto it redundant.. so really you'd only want space for vids and demos.

just my 2 cents - get the pro, use the saved cash for whatever you want.

I tried to download the latest Pirates of the Caribbean .... 7.7 ****ing gigs. I tried anything and everything to find the room including deleting every game save and XBLA game but to no avail. For casual gamers who do not fancy the Marketplace all that much the Pro is more value for your money. However, if I were to buy a new console today it would be the Elite because the solo 120GB HDD is still outrageously priced. As Karma already pointed out, the only real difference is color and disc drive storage.
