xbox 360 playback

do i have to have xbox live to play original xbox games cause the guy at the gamestop said that there is somthing that you have to download off of xbox live to play them. and where i live at i cant get xbox live and i miss halo 1 & 2 please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a broadband connection and the free silver level account. Your 360 has to download an emulator for every original Xbox game.

If you had a memory card you could download the updates from Xbox live at the xbox 360 displays you see at stores. the kiosks have a mermory card port to access the updates with.

you can also go to the xbox website and burn a a special disk that will update the, i guess, database of what xbox games you can play on the 360. i did this one before i set up a live account. i think halo 1 and 2 might work without having to update anything.
or, if you get the xbox magazine, the disks that come with it have updates on them.
