xbox 360 20gb

ok tommorow im running to gamestop to get a 20gb refurbished harddrive....because thats all i can spend right now, and i dont ahve that many games to use my memory up on...should i trust in the refurbished part of it and hope it works or what?

im also buying a gold card and cod4 tommorow so i cant spend that much money

Refurbs usually have a guarantee, and you don't need more than 20gb. You're obviously limited by your budget, so I wouldn't question the refurb.

I really dont think the 120gb is woth the 150 odd dollars...and i want to be able to buy cod4 and a gold card while im at it...i just want to know what you ppl think about the refurbished stuff

honestly worst case scenario is it doesn't work and you have to return it.

refurbs can work really well, when my console got rrod they sent me a refurb and it's been the best one of the 3 xboxs i've owned. and like they said the worst case scenario is you send it back and get another, you wont be out of pocket if it doesn't work

Refurb equipment i would probably buy myself, if it's a bargain. but a refurb console would be a different story.

My original Xbox was a refurb, but I guess I'd be leery of a 360 refurb.

They just call the used hardware "refurbs" they might clean it and wipe any data off the HD/console but they don't take it apart or anything. They just box it up and move it out. I doubt you would have a problem with a used HD, a used 360 might be a different story since GS/EB is the RRoD console dumping ground for most people.

you americans confuse me, are we talking about used or refurbed? or have you guys changed the meaning of another once sensible word?? just to be clear my box was a previously busted one that's been repaired, not just a 2nd hand console i picked up from a shop

A refurb is a used console that's sent back to the factory or some authorized repair center to be repaired and reconditioned. A used console is not necessarily a refurbished console.

The ones that someone will buy from Gamestop/EB are simply used. They call them refurbs to make you think you're not getting just a used one. They might clean them up but that's it. It's just a marketing thing.
