Excel has more tools to filter, make formulas and the Pivot Tables rock over Apple's equivalent. Does Iworks even offer something to counter Access? It doesn't even support OpenOffice I'm told. I'm not an expert on many things, but this is one area where I am. A big part of my job is building and analyzing reports and forecasting trends for a company with 1,800 employees, manufacturing facilities in 4 (soon to be 5) countries, partnerships in 3 others and who's products are used in nearly every country in the world. My company lives or dies with good sales and market data, which is why my abilities have gotten me 2 big promotions in the past 2.5 years. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying if want to know about HD tv's, ask Scott, if you want to grow a business on good decisions based on analysis and data, talk to me. Your company needs to load Office on your Macs.

This guy is a twat anyway, he's spamming all threads, he is a newcomer, and just a whiner. Forget even replying to this guy.

And if your done with console gaming, better get a wad of cash together to go buy a top end PC, cause even if you do get a PC, all the best games are on Xbox 360.

POWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope you're not meaning me I was simply challenging his statement that iWorks is not ''business software''. I think he agrees that he was wrong, since in his follow up he then went on to refer to it as business software anyway :P

I'm still Windows at home, Mac's are pretty pricey when stacked up against PC you put together yourself. However I am enjoying using/buying them at work, I find them pretty intuitive (a lot easier to support) and a heck of a lot more stable.

Josh and rcourtman, judging by the way they reacted.

I've never used iword or whatever its called, but i've used Macs and there is nothing that they do better than a windows PC apart from burn a bigger hole in your pocket.

One of my previous employers used Macs.

I refered to its as "business software" in the same vein as refering to Wii as a "video game console"...for casual users that don't much care about having the best at their disposal.

No one hands you an assignment and tells you the steps like in a classroom. In the workplace they simply hand you an assignment and it's up to you to figure the best way to get results. Play with your little Mac at school, but if you intend to enter the business world as a career, pad your resume with some strong Office training. BTW, if it takes you more than 2 mouse clicks or keystrokes to do ANYTHING in Excel, you're not adequately trained and/or experienced. It's a lot easier and more powerful than iworks in skilled hands.

Who the **** are you?

I think I covered my knowledge, training and experience as throughly as was necessary. Considering the hours I put in, if Apple's crap let me get my work done faster and more efficiently, I would use it.

If iworks is so wonderful, why does Apple pimp Office 2008 for Mac on their own friggin' website and commercials? Shouldn't marketing Office be left to MS and not Apple? Hmmmm......

Exactly right. Some people will refuse to believe that other companies can do things better than Apple.

Good point Karma in almost all of my jobs i have had since college it was just about mandatory you had a working knowledge of MS Office Access, Word, Excell, Powerpoint and to a degree Publisher. And from my own experience as I am in process of changing jobs this is a must know especially in the buisness world and the criminal justice field which my degrees are in.

Actually, bevo has been reporting spam threads/posts for ages - pretty much since he's been here. Not just since the infractions system has been made public.
