Default Few 360 Problems

For a little over a month now I've been getting a single red light when I turn it on. The console says E 68 and some error message about contacting support. Reboot gets rid of it. Apparently this is some type of hard drive malfunction.
When I turn my console on I also noticed that sometimes it will make abnormally loud or quiet noises, I have no idea what causes them as none of the environment really changes.
Sometimes my disc tray won't open/close and I have to wiggle it to get it to work.
Every once in a while I'll get the error that says I need to put the disc in an XBOX 360 console.
A little over a week ago my hard drive got corrupted or something. I couldn't access any of my old data (gamer profiles, game saves, etc.) although the system itself worked fine. I was still able to play all of my music. When I checked the memory it said that a lot of space was still being taken up on my hard drive, which means that it wasn't erased, more I just can't access it at all. So I shut off the console, took out the hard drive, put it back in, same problem.
Since then I've just re-created my gamer profile and have played like nothing happened, although I still can't access any of my old game saves or anything.
I'm reluctant to call support as I don't know whether my warranty is active. Last year I had an old 360 sent in, I get it back, it has these problems, but by now my warranty is over I believe, or does it renew since I got a 360 back from them?

See if a kind friend will lend you another hard drive to test on your box. If the problems persist - it's time for a new X360 unfortunately.

If the problems go away - get a new hard drive.

you must have been afraid at some point. unfortunately, and this has been said on these forums before, that the 360 can sense fear and reacts accordingly. usually total shutdown. sorry bro. time to call for that cardboard coffin. and be sure to keep your fear in check in the future.

Apparently it reacts to anger as well, as that's the emotion I remember.
Anyways, anybody know if my warranty is still going?

Didn't they extend the warranties on them all? so even a launch console should still be covered i believe.

Extended warranty might not cover this particular problem.
It's not 'bumper-to-bumper' so to speak.

Well - let's just say that unless it's a stand-up RROD, you have 1 year of warranty in the UK and I think 90 days in the U.S.

It's the next big thing for Geico. XBox 360 insurance.
'But.... Honey.... We don't have an XBox." "Suprise! ...Let's bag these up.. >>;"
