Default 360 is acting strange, Advice appreicated.

I got my 360 from ebay, second hand I thought I would mention that first.

for the most part it plays fine, never had a crash a all games work fine.

though, if it hasn't been played overnight, the first power on of the day never works. the light comes on but it never actually powers up and the lights on the controller just flash, all of them. After switching it off and on again it works fine, though rarely it takes 2-3 tries.

I should also note that also, sometimes on the first boot, I get a lower right red light on the ring and once all 4 lights red, though after turning it off and unplugging it all and trying again it works fine.

its not overheating or anything, I just wonder why it never boots up first time and why the red lights sometimes.

any advice?

Your about to get 3RROD OR you simply have an error. Did the error message E 74 ever pop on on the screen? You said one red light int he lower right, that happened to me. Then you also said 4 red lights which means AV Cables arent connected. Likely that AV Port is messed up. Unless your in warranty thats a $100 repair...at least in the US

have to agree there - prob with buying stuff off ebay is that there's no way to determine if you're buying from an authorized dealer. -and if you're not, you have NO warranty even if it's brand new.

ebay is a scary place sometimes. but it can be an incredible place. i hope everything works out but without a warranty you may be in trouble. your best bet is too look for a local store that repairs 360's.

I guess I was lucky then as it's still in warrenty.
I just wanted to know if it was worth me sending it off for repairs but I've heard that can take a month or more, for us in England at least.

you know, the rrod is tricky. from personal experience not only with my own consoles, but from friends of mine, it's almost as if certain games trigger it, or the outlet that the 360 is plugged into. an example: my first 360 i had hooked up in my living room for about a month, it worked fine until i rearranged the equipment and used a different outlet, and i got the rrod. so i moved in to anther outlet and it worked fine for a year until the rrod came back for real and stopped working completely.

a friend of mine had his 360 for almost 2 years and put in a brand new copy of dead rising and he got the rrod. any other game worked fine. so he tried it again and it ended up getting stuck inside the 360.

those were just some weird cases i thought i would share with you.

i came across this article tonight concerning the rrod: Report: MS Knew About 360 Defects Before Launch
