Posts: 79 | Just Got RROD Blah Blah Blah Just got my 2nd RROD just before my warranty was up (phew). I know the drill and all but my question is to anybody who has gotten one back recently: Are they shipping the same ol' garbage 360's or are they finally fixing them proper? Or more specifically has anybody sent in an old one and gotten back one with HDMI?

Posts: 7 | I am pretty sure they are fixing them properly nowadays, but I had an Elite from the beginning (which never had problems) so I wouldn't know for sure, just rumors.

Posts: 220 | You know what's funny, a friend of mine has a launch console that still works fine. It was dropped from his entertainment center, had beer spilled all over it, and his dog chewed through the power cord - which is now soldered and covered with electrical tape. Amazing. But to answer your question - I believe they are fixing them proper, in some cases replacing the broke unit with a brand new one and getting it back in less than 2 weeks. Keep me posted.

Posts: 79 | So I'm tossing around the idea of getting an Elite when my refurb/replace, whatever 360 gets back. Of course I have some stuff on my old 20 GB HDD. My question is: Do the new Elites still come with the data transfer cables or would I have to buy/send off for one?

Posts: 952 | don't recall a data transfer cable in my box, mate - so probably no.
Must admit - I'm a bit naive when it comes to xfr'ing data from one xbox to another - how is this done?

Posts: 79 | From what I saw lookin it up it looks like you have a cable that hooks from the new 120 GB HDD to a USB port on the 360. You insert a supplied Xsfer disc and it Xsfers some or most of the data to the new HDD. Help me if this isn't the case.

Posts: 79 | It seems to me like the cable only comes with the 120 GB HDD standalone now. Not sure if the license download available now covers purchased stuff now (another less tangible way to transfer purchased XBL games)
So other than it being black, why wouldn't anybody buy an Arcade 360 then pick up the 120 GB HDD rather than buying an Elite? That's only $349 compared to $399. True it comes with an HDMI cable but I can get those cheaper than $50. Plus the arcade comes packaged with 5 free games, albeit lame ones but its better than a poke in the eye.

Posts: 79 | Ya the Arcade has HDMI. True there is a bundle (in some places) but it has 2 oldish type games. No doubt if you get a bundle and don't own the 2 games its the better deal. But I think you can find Ultimate Alliance for 10 bucks now can't remember the other game but it was racing. 6's really.

Posts: 2,538 | you get a wireless controller instead of a wired, a headset, a remote, and i believe a free month gold subscription with anything but the core/arcade.
and since when does the arcade come with HDMI?
i just got my launch day console back for the 2nd time. Took less than 2 weeks, but its the same one, and they fixed the half dozen problems it had (that i can tell), so yay! |

Posts: 952 | probably since Arcades starting shipping with Falcon boards. - But he's right, they definitely have HDMI ports on them.
It was the core and pro models that had composite/component only.
The current range (Arcade, Premium, Elite) all have HDMI now.

Posts: 79 | What would really rock is if MS started building the wireless adapter directly into the 360 Elite, that would make it worth picking one up. If they're gonna call it the Elite it should be.
UPS is saying my 360 is on its way today to the Repair Center. We shall see.
What's up with the 360 motion control? I'm not into it, but the more options the better.
