Default The 360 and plasma HDTV?

The newer plasma tv's are less affected by burn in. Also the worst time is when they're new. Once the phosphors break in they get tougher. If you do get some burn in just playing regular tv for a few days will normally clear in up. This is what the guys on Digital Life TV were saying.

yeah worst you can do at first is image retention. Which can have varying levels of how it looks. But as someone else mentioned just watching TV will get rid of it. Now if you play Halo 20 hours a day everyday you could definitely screw up a plasma after awhile (especially if its brand new and you haven't broken it in as another person mentioned). But if you watch lots of TV and game and play different games it wont be a problem. Also nice thing I noticed about a lot of the new games on 360 (take king kong for instance) is they have no hud and or they have a really small one. Thats important because the only thing you really have to fear giving you a problem are those static images that never go away. But plasma is safe, heck if you listen to Major Nelson's newest blogcast he interviews the guy in charge of Xbox360's media center connectivity and he talks about how he plays it on a plasma

I don't see the problem with plasma at all, to be honest I think they are way better than LCDs. I don't understand how people always feel like they need to rant about how bad they are. For instance the burn issue, takes usually about 8 hours to burn a stationary image in. Imagine playing PDZ on the same level without leaving the screen with a HUD for 8 hours?

Plasmas have much better contrast ratios, response times and picture definition than LCDs any day.

exactly, and for the size/price ratio right now anything in the 37+ inch range a plasma can't be beat. LCD are just way too expensive in that size. Now for smaller screens LCD's are a very nice choice. I think what scares most people (and rightfully so) is just the thought of burn in on such an expensive tv. And dont get me wrong it does happen. But some mistake image retention for burn in. Heck I played some Blitz for too long and had image retention that was noticable (on a blank black screen I could see the turbo bars) just watched tv for 10-15 minutes and it went away no problem

Cool Don't do plasma

Plasma has a high right of burn in. That and its very expensive to buy. It would just suck for you to buy the TV and then have burn in happen. Even with the newer plasma TV's burn in can happen. I think that you should check out this posting it will answer a lot of your questions about HDTV's that you should probably be thinking about getting.

I hope that this will help you out.

official 360 gave it the worst rating although my projection screen looks almost just as good in HD as a plasma with almost no chance of burn in at all.

LCD's have no risk of burn in. The bits of screen are moving at all times however they are so small that you dont even notice them moving. If your going to get a tv over 32" go plasma. LCD is to expensive at that size.

They are images on the screen that are not changing. Image retention or burn-in is caused by a bright fixed images of something that is always in the exact same place.

Once again newer plasma tv's are FAR FAR LESS affected by this. It has almost become a non-issue.

If you want to start a flame war go to www.avsforum.com and start asking questions about burn-in. They created a dedicated thread to contain all the burn-in flamers.

This forum(planet xbox 360) is surprisingly free from spamers. In other forums for xbox, sony fans come in and harrass the peoples threads. Its pretty retarded. They say things like ps2 is better than x****s. Its pretty imature.

If it's over a year old then it's fully broken in. New plasma sets are most prone for the first couple months.
