Posts: 575 | car One thing is, is that the xbox 360 is not a car. It is not a car, a motorcycle, a bike, a house, a road, anything of the sort. It is a very delicate electrical device. Everyone is talking about problems after many hours or 5-9 hours of play time. It probably isnt built for that. I play mine MAYBE 2 hours a day, if that, and I havent had a single problem with anything listed in any of these posts. Put a small fan on her, and ease it down on the play time. If people have THAT much time on their hands they need a job, or get out and have friends. Some social interaction will help. Dont take this post the wrong way, but people are abusing their box and are wondering why its screwed up. |

Posts: 4 | What, so people aren't allowed to play on the Xbox 360 a lot, just because you don't?
It should be designed for long term use. I'm a student, and so will be spending all my free time on the console. If it breaks because I use it too much, it's not worth the money. |

Lets not forget to unplug the frige 12 hours a day. Wait, you flushed the toilet three times today, that is one to many. Damm I already walked upstairs today, guess im stuck up here till tomorrow till its safe to use the stairs again. |

But seriously. Make sure the power brick has enough space to breathe to let the heat out. Make sure you do NOT put the 360 on CARPET, that is bad as it can lead to overheating and do NOT move the 360 horizontally and vertically while playing a game as this can lead to a scratched disk. If you moved it from your house to your friends one of the cables could be loose as well, make sure they are in securely. Hope this helped. And btw, I've played mine as much as 9 hours in one day in one sitting and no problems. I'm down to about 2-3 hrs a night now and no problems. |

Posts: 825 | My 360 is horizontal the power brick lays on top of a cabinet(not enclosed) and all the wires are setup good. I have moved my 360 vertical and horizontal several times with a cd in it while doing it and they are still in perfect condition. I also play the system as much as possible and the system does very well keeping itself cool and running smooth. But if you are to take it into a hot room it will react to that heat and start breaking down just like any other electronical piece of equipment. You need to keep your xbox away from frabrics that are prone to conduction of electric for instance your friends pillow could've disturbed the working electronics in the console. I have also tested it by leving it on for 10+ hours and the 360 itself was barely warm and the power brick was at a normal temperature. I think you might want to call Microsoft and tell them the problems you might be having. Your also want to try to think of the things in your friends house that could've affected the 360. Its an awesome machine, it will last a very long time on and will keep itself cool and will not be beaten for awhile.

Posts: 575 | right Now as my previous post went over most heads, I'll go again.
Dont complain about a broken or screwed up system if you arent going to treat it right.
Thats it. no tricks, no dumb comments about a POS ipod and two songs at a time.
I know you dont by a 3,000 dollar computer, put it sideways with crap all around and over it so it can overheat, because you know better. Electronics like this need room to breath and need breaks. Dont like the truth talk to microsoft, they said it not me. And if you dont like that, then you wasted your money, go get a gba. |

Posts: 79 | Ok, i dont think chucksteak is very hardcore so whatever. You guys really helped me out cause i want my horizontal and i was afraid that it might not work as well because of the lack of heat dissipation. Another suggestion i wanted to make to everyone is something i thought of out of the blue is one of those cooling pads for expensive laptops. Let me know what you guys think. And im also considering actually hanging my power supply(box sits on my speaker) off the back of my cabinet. Hope this helps somebody out. By the way, those cooling pads are relatively cheap ranging at around 20 bucks |

Agreed, I play mine for hours at a time, probably the most in a row so far is 5 hours, but it works great! And its horizontal. |

Posts: 198 | So far I haven't had any problem with my 360. It sits horizontal on a shelf, and the power supply sits on a shoe box where I keep my speaker. Maybe later on tonight I'll get home and take some pictures on where I have everything.

Posts: 44 | In my opinion, both sides really have a point. On one hand, the 360 *is* a delicate machine and you really should try to take it easy on the thing. On the other hand, we just spent $300-$400 on this thing, so yeah, we should expect to be able to play the hell out of it.
Bottom line is this: It is what it is. We all heard the rumors of these things malfunctioning in Kiosks and we still chose to go out and get one. We paid for it now we gotta treat it the way it needs to be treated. If you're not happy with it, look to get your money back. That's all I can really say. |
