Posts: 96 | I know it's out of the question, but does the Xbox360 supports DTS like the XBox did?
My surround sound I have now for my Xbox is Logitech Z-680, which is too powerfull for my room, but it does its job very well.
I'm planning to buy the Logitech® Z-5500 Digital, which will be for my Xbox360 and my puter will get the Z-680 then

Can someone who does have an Xbox360 tell me if it supports DTS for movies like the Xbox did?

Posts: 236 | Yes - check out this paragraph right off the xbox.com web site:
XBOX 360 Audio Capabilities
The VGA HD AV cable's high-quality analog audio connectors are standard red/white RCA jacks that plug into most televisions and all audio components. This makes it easy to route the sound from your Xbox 360 console to an AV surround receiver or integrated amplifier so that you can listen to your games, DVD movies, and music through your home theater or stereo system.
For ultimate sonic fidelity and the capacity to enjoy discrete, multichannel surround sound from select games and most DVD movies, Xbox 360 users can take advantage of the component HD AV cable's digital audio output using a Toslink optical digital audio cable (not included).
When connected to a compatible AV surround receiver and speaker system, the VGA HD AV cable can pass 2-channel digital audio (for stereo or Dolby Pro Logic listening) as well as full Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround signals to envelop you in rich, dynamic music and sound effects. |

Are you buying just speakers? You have to have a reciever. And if the reciever is DD 5.1 buy an optical cable and use that to connect your stuff. |

Posts: 325 | Audio has two levels. Consumer and Pro.
Consumer Audio can be described as stuff you can buy at a Circuit City, Fryes, Best Buy. Cheap stuff that makes sound, but does not reproduce music fidelity very well.
Pro Audio is for audiophiles. $10.000 dollar turntables $3000 cd players
$80.000 monoblock amps (one per speaker}
Anything that comes out of a single box (surround sound sytems) are cheap consumer crap. Really, dont waste your money.
You would be better off with a quality stereo amp and a pair of good speakers.
My system; Amplifier Fronts Sides Rears Subs (2) And Coming Friday!
Total cost, about $6000.00
Bottom line, you get what you pay for! |
