brick is on top of cardboard box, a end table, and then entertainment center. the surge protector is in between table and center. the brick gets hotter than the xbox from what i have seen.

well, if it has good ventilation, and/or a cool aria to sit in, it's good. I have it on the floor, but it's nothing but empty space for about 2 inches around it and cool air hits it, a lot. So half is cold and half is warm. I haven't had a single problem yet! Now, make sure that the vent holes on the 360 itself are open. I have had some hot air come out of those.

This is my next Cooler Project. I Completed the 360 Vertical Stand Cooler with 3ea 3" fans that push A ton of Air into the unit and out the rear, So now for the Power Brick....

If anyone has seen any pictures of the unit disassembled please point me to the links or pictures.. I want to make sure that the unit sits in here in the direction of the internal fan, so that the 2 aren't competing with each other....

Simple to build.

New News:

The Power Brick's fan is a blower type and it is installed on the side without the LED. The fan pulls air through a channel of metal across the heat sink inside the unit and out the air holes above the LED. So I was correct. If I put the fans in the direction in my above post it will push more air into and across the brick for better breathing..... someone actually beat me to it though located here: (a little rough looking but effective none the less...mine will be alot cleaner like my cooler mod.)

Code:
http://wootboot.com/360psu.htm
please note that in this mod (link above) that the air is not effectively pushing air in the appropriate direction... as the fan runs long ways from cord to LED not across the width as the one in the link...although air in general should keep it cool.
