Default HDTV Ghosts

I finally get to open my 360 on Chirstmas (have had it since launch), but I read an article somewhere about ghosts on larger HDTV's. I have read through some threads, but not all and am wondering what to expect. I have a 50" rear projection Mitsubishi Medallion. Native setting for HD is 1080i, should I expect problems?

Actually there is an HD/Analog switch on the cord that goes from your TV to your 360. The switch is on the end that plugs into the 360. Try that and I also believe there is a display setting somewhere in the "system" pannel to set the X360 to either 480p, 720p, or 1080i depending on what your TV is capable of.

with a rear projection you have to be carefull. make sure you dont leave the same image up on your TV or it will burn into your TV and will produce "ghosts" on your tv. and also enable the screen saver on your 360

I have noticed some ghosts on my 52" LG DLP.... I think its only on halo though. (maybe a bad disk?) And with rear projection isn't burn in near impossible? At least on DLP's it is. You do have to be worried about the bulb life though, normally they are 4000 to 6000 hours. (10 times less then LCD or plasma)

Burn in is only a slight problem with CRT rear-projection. And I've never seen it happen. But probably better to be safe than sorry if you have one.

As for ghosts on your DLP, are you sure what you are seeing are ghosts, or is it the dreaded DLP "rainbow" effect inherent with that technology?

No actually i have yet to see the "rainbow effect" on my dlp... its a great tv. These are real "ghosts" of the halo scenery, but from what ive seen its either the xbox or the games fault.

Glad to hear! I'd much rather see "ghosts" than that damn Rainbow! The first time you see it, you're doomed. You'll see it forever, no matter what material you are watching. So don't go looking for it!
