I reckon this will all be a moot point in a year or two. They have already developed another disc format that trumps both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, and it will be available as early as 2007.

HVD (Holographic Versatile Disc) has a storage capacity of one terabyte (1000 GB) on a single disc! Amazing.

Do some research on it, it is very interesting to say the least, and the fact that it already has an alliance with big backers such as Toshiba, coupled with the ongoing format war, there is the slightest of chance HD-DVD and Blu-ray will be obsolete before it ever hit’s the shelves.

Either way, it does tend to make you realize the limitless potential of next-gen consoles in the years to come.

You remember that Blu-ray holds more info right? So on every rotation the Blu-ray reads more info than one rotation of the standard Dvd-9 does. Despite that fact that the Dvd-9 is spinning 6 times faster, it is only picking up a little more information than the Blu-ray 2x speed. If the PS3 had a 3x speed Blu-ray drive, it would be faster than a 12x Dvd-9 drive. Thus far, however, I have only heard mention a 2x Blu-ray drive for the PS3.

And can you fix your sig? The cheerleader looks like she is retaining water.

Actually, just to let you guys know, the ps3 right now is assumed at 1x. Sony hasn't let any official word about the speed yet, but according to IGN, its 1x.

The one thing I was a little worried about with my 360 was the disk space issue. But after reading the Gamesfirst study, I feel alot better about it. For anyone who hasn't read it, I suggest you do. Its a good read.
