Default 100 Gb harddrive

I read on another forum how there are rumors of MS including a 100Gb harddrive on the 360's in a couple of months. If they did then the price of the premium would increase just like what happen with the psp and the gigapack. We need a 100Gb or more harddrive but release an external 3.5 inch option that way a 300Gb will be the same price and we can use both Harddrives at the same time. They should offer an xbox 360 extreme edition in like 2 years that has an HD-DVD drive, huge harddrive, more usb ports, built in wifi, HDMI output, Fanatastic media remote, wireless headset and flash memory readers. Maybe price that like $150 more than a regular console and that will sell well. That will murder ps3 in its tracks.

yea...i don't think they'll have a 100 gb hard drive...i think they should make more memory cards so that u can have the hard drive and the card in at the same time instead of having to switch hard drives

100 gb hard drive, if true, could mean something in the form of connectivity with your computer.... for example putting your own videos on your hard drive, and playing them. or even buying dvds off of marketplace.

If there was a 100GB hard drive that would be pretty cool because you could save entire games on your hard drive and would no longer need the disc

Eventually it might get to the point where you can buy full games over Live instead going to a retail store and buy a disc. But that's a long way off. With a 20GB hard drive, with a average of 9GB (DVD-9) per game that's about 2 games. A 100GB hard drive would be about 10 games. If they had the option to re-download games without paying for them again then it might work as you play a game beat it, move onto another new game then one day decide to play that game again. Even with a fast internet connection downloading a 3GB game client on the computer takes about 3-5 hours.

It would be nice (well not really, retail stores like gamestop/eb would be out of business and me out of a job lol) to downloadfull games but maybe in the next 'next' gen systems.

lol, screw downloading full games... we need internet connections fast enough and consoles powerful enough to stream the entire games directly from a central server. instead of buying the game, you just buy a key/account and logon to play :P

Well if you listen to Bill Gates then the games will likely be downloaded across live. Im not saying this is in the short term at all but he has made statements that this may be the last media war between blu-ray and HD-DVD because everything will be stored on digital drives in the future. It will make disks less signigicant.

Default It's a Marketing Gimmick!!!

I'm not sure if you understand what's going on here. There are strings attached to 100GB hard drive. If true, from what I understand one would have to sign a contract with Direct TV to receive the 100GB hard drive and 80GB's would probably be reserved for DVR functionality/use. (Remember the possibility of a Direct TV Blade on the 360 dashboard?)

Now add to that Direct TV is partnered with Qwest (and possibly other DSL providers). Qwest DSL is also partnered with Microsoft as well (MSN Premium service). Can you see where I'm going with this?

Basically it's a whole package deal! You buy the Xbox 360, sign up with Direct TV to get the 100GB hard drive (For DVR functionality), then they pressure Qwest DSL service which includes MSN premium. Furthermore, Qwest is a phone company so you would have to sign up for the phone service to purchase DSL. They may entice you with huge discounts if you sign for all these services at once but they are all connected.

Damn, Microsoft's marketing company is genius! Or I am, but either way, IF TRUE, this look to be the most likely scenario.
