Default hooking up to computer monitor

How would I hook up a 360 to my computer monitor? Do I jsut plug it into the monitor itself or is there a way to hook it up through my computer's video card?

Buy the VGA adapter for the 360. It costs around $40. It comes with a Female-2-Female adapter, and you just plug your monitor into it. As for sound you can either plug it up to a stereo with the RCA jacks or use the supplied RCA to headphone jack adapter to plug it into your PC's Audio In port so the sound comes out through your PC speakers.

Another question, if you plug it into your monitor, is there an easy way to switch back and forth between 360 and your computer?

Yes, just buy a KVM switch or a monitor switch box.

For example:

There are many vendors available...

Default Well

Look around as there are 3rd party packs that do Xbox360 to VGA connection and include a TOS cable (also has L/R RCA). The one I got was cheaper by $20 (NZ) than the MICROSOFT cable that had the female to female adaptor but no TOS (5.1 Digital) socket. Now I do need a female to female adaptor but they are $5 pfft, nothing. THe picture and the DVDs are smoother and brighter.

Shop around and good luck too.

Yeah I used something like that to hookup my PC monitor to my xbox but I have LCD's and the picture was really dark and somewhat grainy. I dont have an adapter for the 360 yet. Maybe since the resolution is higher for the 360 it will look nicer.

No, buying a male-male adapter should be fine, better double check it isn't female...the cable coming out the of the monitor. It is easy to check....

Male has little "prongs" sticking out, inside of the outer casing of the connector, and female has 15 or so little holes.

Hope this solves your problem, as the VGA will make a massive difference to how it all looks.
