Default How many people have got RED RINGS OF DEATH since the updates?

Just wondering cause Just a week or so ago my 360 I got on launch day got a Red Ring of Death. Never having any problems with it till now. So I returned it and got a new one on monday 06/12/06 installed all the updates and played some games of halo2. Then the next day I go to play some more and it prompts me to install another update so I do. Then I go to play some halo2 after it had rebooted from the update and during the load the screen it went all weird. It looked like atari graphics just a bunch of different colored blocks. Now sometimes it will boot(but most of the time i just get RRoD) but then like 10 seconds in it starts happeneing again. It seems like I didnt have these problems till the updates came around. Just wanna if this has happened to anyone else.

I got the red lights the day of the update. Though I think it was due to a power outlet issue as I haven't had anything since then. I play Halo 2, SWBF2, and Fable with no problems on my 360.

Too bad there wasn't a way to uninstall/reinstall updates. I think that may be part of the problem...corrupt downloads. It happens all the time on PC's...I sure it can happen on the 360. I guarantee being able to redownload and install an update would fix the recent red rings.

No problem here, I doubt it's the update since we all got the same thing. Maybe there is something wrong with the TSOP in your xbox 360 and it's somehow got corrupted after the update. It's basically a flash chip on the motherboard( I think its 256Mb) and it stores the OS for the xbox 360 and some other critical things the xbox 360 needs to run properly. So when you install the update it writes the new os and deletes the old up so is the chip did something weird while doing that then it won't work properly. But since you say you see weird colours than thats the GPU, call Microsoft. It would be cool if they are erase your TSOP and reinstall it remotely from Redmond so you don't have to ship your system.

1 red light means something else, 3 red lights mean hardware failure and 4 red lights me you forgot to plug in the video wire. The only red lights I got was when I forgot to plug in the video wires and there was 4 red lights flashing.

Well add me to the list. I got the 3 red rings of death last night. (06/21) Since Wal-mart was no help in exchanging it, I will have to send it back to MS for repairs. I've only had it for 2 or 3 months. Hope they can fix it and that it will last longer than that.
