Default Going to get a Falcon!!!

I am selling my old Xbox 360 and going to get the elite model. I have read all the post about getting a falcon (175w power supply, manufacture date - even though discrepancies exist) and cant find a definitive answer.

Is there a way to determine if a Xbox 360 is a falcon while it is still in the retail box? I want to check the inventory at my local chain store so I can make sure to get a falcon. By the way, I am in the US.

Thanks for any and all help that comes my way.

Well you sure won't find a Falcon at the games store. Best place to look is the forest, depends where you live though. They're rare to find, so it might take you a while. I'm not really sure how to check inside the Falcon, but if you go to an experienced hunter i'm sure he'll show you a way.

Surely you can lift hte tab on the box which reveals the serial number and the production date. I'd say its safe to assume any console built in 2008 is the falcon chipset.
