The industry doesn't believe in blu-ray to the extent that Sony would have you believe - in fact, do a little reading and most experts seem to feel that the PS3 is propping up blu-ray technology as a whole. Couple that with abysmal sales of standalone players and it begins to seem as though Microsoft does have the right idea - online DLC is the future of media.

Posts: 761 | I didn't believe it at first - but with the price of standalone BD players still sky-high and broadband capacity increasing every month - I'm really starting to doubt if Blu Ray has a future at all.

Posts: 3,982  | An average downloaded HD is about 10-12gb you take into account how quick your harddrive fills and the electricity your pc uses up downloading it cause it takes couple of hours and the time wasted downloading the thing and so on, its more logical to just rent or buy HD

In fact, if it hadn't been for DVD and CD before it, it's unlikely that Blu-ray would have ever caught on in the first place. Even Sony doesn't believe in it's own formula - it has a full line of HD camcorders shipping with solid state storage. Why? Quite simple: reliability, durability and life.

And now, at least at blockbuster, they put the good movies in the 'gold' section, which is like 2.50 for 5 nights. a lot of downloadable movies you can start watching if you give it a 5 or 10 minute head start. i don't know though, i haven't ever watched a DL movie, just some commercials. all i know is i pay like 50 some bucks a month for my interweb and its only 130k DL speed, and that isn't very dang fast. i like that movie on flash drives though. wonder how much they would sell for, and how you would hook them to a TV.

Posts: 3,982 | I was talking about downloading free from the web, and renting as in going to rental store picking a few movies up and watching them hassle free in front room, without worrying about leads and **** from your pc. I would never rent from xbl as they arent real HD and way overpriced.
