Name Change on Xbox Live for 360?

ya i was wondering if anyone knows how i can change my gamertag on xbox live? when i just got xbox live last December i just put some random name i wasnt thinking about it...but i want to change it now using the same credit card i used....anyone know and take me through it?

I want to change my gamertag to, but apperently you have to phone up Xbox live to get them to cancel your subscription then create a new account with your preferd gamertag.

Ok I just emailed them about changing my gamertag heres a copy of the message

I currently have a live account and will be transfering it when the Xbox 360 comes out but I would like to change my gamertag is this possible without canceling my subscription ?

I doubt they'll respond microsoft are a huge company so they'll be to busy to respond to a email.

Here's my game-plan; whenever you kill someone in Halo2 just go hump their body and tell them to leave bad name feedback, message all of your friends to do the same, Microsoft's message will make you change your name. Also you can just ask everyone to do it in any other game.

Unfortunately MS don't change your user name they just ban you if you have excessive bad feedback.

My subscription expires next August so if I can't change mt gamertag during the transfer I'll change it once it my subscription expires.

mine does on january 10th. i know the exact date because my 2 month card from halo 2 ended on that day(2 months and a day after launch)

You have to ring up the Xbox Live service and tell them you want to cancel it before your account expires otherwise you will be charged an additional 12 months. It's an automatic thing, so unless they hear from you they will just keep charging you every 12 months

If you do get enough negative feedback because of your name, e.g., Huge Johnson, Mike Hunt, XBL will send you a missive stating that you have 'x' amount of days to change your name until your account is suspended and/or terminated. You can call them and state taht you want a name change, but of the people that I know of, it has never worked. Best bet is to get your friends to leave negative comments about your name or wait until renewal time.

I also think that all old names that are no longer in use should be sent back to the "hopper" for everyone to use again. Think about it; 2 million XBL users, 750,000 words in the English language. They need to do some recycling. Because the guy with "Grindstone" isn't representing like I would [he doesn't suck, but ya know...].

Let's say some guy has the Gamertag name I want for 360, and his gamertag expires or cancels before I sign up, can I use his expired name? Or is it still "taken"?

Still doesn't work. Then you would inherit his profile and rankings (if any). So at this point, it is not allowed. Like I said, they need to recycle some.
