Default people with xbox live and a 56k modem read on how to connet to xbl

main link here http://forum.cheatplanet.com/index.p...&#entry1602607

Alright, it might get a little bit complicated but not to difficult, anyone is free to use it, modchip is NOT required don't flame me and say that 56k slows down Xbox live, IT DOESN'T the only thing it will do I give dooba a chance to play on Xbox live. You must have a pc running WinXP Pro, WinXP Home, Win Me, Win 2000 Pro, or Win98SE

You will need:

A Router OR A Crossover cable-
(I recommend using the crossover cable, routers don't always work with this, crossover cable is also called a Patch cable)

An Xbox-
(duh)

An Internet Connection-
(This tutis based on how to do it for a modem, but you can also follow these steps for any internet connection)

An Nic Card-
(This is a networking card, usually built into the motherboard)

http://photobucket.com/albums/b258/M...&current=1.jpg

This is how the setup should be.

Windows ICS Connection

Connecting Using Windows ICS
Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) allows you share one Internet connection with multiple devices, such as your Xbox. You need to use a Windows ICS connection (1) if your cable or DSL modem is USB-based, or (2) if it is an internal PCI modem (56k):

Scenario 1: USB-Based Modem
Follow these instructions if your modem is USB-based.
Scenario 2: Internal PCI Modem (56k)
Follow these instructions if you have an internal modem connected to a PCI slot on your PC.
If you do not have one of these two types of modems, you are better off choosing a different connection type.

About Windows ICS
A Windows ICS connection uses Microsoft® Windows® Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). Use ICS to set up your PC as a host computer through which your Xbox console accesses the Internet. ICS essentially allows you to use your PC like a cable or DSL router. However, you must connect your Xbox console through your PC, and always turn on your PC before playing games on Xbox Live.

Xbox Live is supported through Windows ICS for only Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows 98 SE. Depending on your operating system, the ICS software might or might not have been automatically installed when your PC was configured. The steps to enable ICS differ based on what operating system you have.

Steps will go in this order:
Win XP
Win 2000
Win Me
Win 98se

Windows XP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To use ICS to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem configured to connect to the Internet.

Log on to your PC as Administrator or Owner.

In Windows XP, ICS is automatically loaded during installation.

On the taskbar, click Start, right-click My Network Places, and select Properties.

Dial-Up

1.) Below the Dial-Up heading, right-click you ISP (internet service provider).

2.) On the shortcut menu, click Properties and then click the Advanced tab.

http://photobucket.com/albums/b258/M...&current=2.jpg

3.) Below Internet Connection Sharing, click the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.

4.) Click OK.
The connection to the Internet is shared to your Xbox console.

Congratulation you have successfully configured you 56k modem for Xbox live!!!

Windows 2000 Professional
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With Windows 2000 Professional, ICS is loaded automatically during installation. Before enabling ICS, you need to make sure you have the network cards set up and connected correctly.

Setting up your network cards
If you have a PC with access to the Internet via 56k, you will need to add a network card in your PC (Giving it doesn't already have one). When the network card is installed, follow the steps below.

1.) On the Desktop, right-click My Network Places.

2.) On the shortcut menu click Network and Dialup Connections.

3.) In the dialog box, click Properties.
You will see a Dial-Up Network Connection and a Local Area Network connection. Local Area Network should have a red X through it.

Note: You can rename these connections anything you want.

4.) On the back of your PC, connect the correct cross-over cable from the network card with the red X, to your Xbox console.

5.) Turn your Xbox console on.
When you right-click My Network Places again, the red X should be gone. However, you don't have connectivity yet.

Note If the red X is still there, plug the cross-over cable into the other card and check to see if the red X has disappeared.

Enabling ICS
-------------------------------------
1.)In the Network and Dialup Connections dialog box, right-click the Local Area Network connection and from the shortcut menu, select Properties.

2.)Click Sharing and then click the Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection check box.

This message appears.

http://photobucket.com/albums/b258/M...&current=3.jpg

3.) Click Yes.

Verifying the connection
------------------------------------------
1.)Right-click the network connection for your Xbox, and click Properties.

2.)On the list of connections, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) B.

3.)Click Properties and click OK.

If you want to verify the IP Address on your Xbox:

1.) Re-boot your Xbox.

2.) On the Dashboard, select Network Settings.
The IP address 192.168.0.1 should be automatically entered.

Congratulation you have successfully configured you 56k modem for Xbox live!!!

Windows Millennium Edition
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With Windows ME you need to install ICS before you can share the connection.

Installing ICS
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel and click Add/Remove Programs from the left panel.

Select Communications on the list of programs and click Details.

Click the Internet Connection Sharing check box.

Click OK and OK.

When asked to reboot your computer, click OK.

Enabling ICS
-------------------------------

1.)When your computer has rebooted, the Home Networking Wizard appears. Click Next.

2.) Below "Yes, this computer uses the following:" click A direct connection to my ISP using the following device:

http://photobucket.com/albums/b258/M...&current=4.jpg

3.) Select the WAN card from the drop-down list. Click Next.
If you Modem and you Nic card have the same name, you might have to guess.

4.) Below "Do you want other computers on your home network to use the Internet connection on this computer?" Click Yes.

5.) Click No, do not create a Home Networking Setup disk. This is not necessary for your Xbox connection.

6.) Click Next.

7.) Click Finish. when a message appears, restart your computer.
When your computer has restarted, the following message appears.

http://photobucket.com/albums/b258/M...&current=5.jpg
8.) Click OK.

Congratulation you have successfully configured you 56k modem for Xbox live!!!

Windows 98 Second Edition
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Windows 98 SE, you must install ICS software from the installation disc before setting up Internet sharing.

Installing ICS
From the Start menu, choose Settings>Control Panel.

Double-click Add/Remove Programs and click Windows Setup tab.

On the list of programs, select Internet Tools and click Details.

Select Internet Connection Sharing and click OK.

Enabling ICS
-----------------------------
1.) When prompted, insert the Installation disc.
The Internet Connection Sharing Wizard appears.

http://photobucket.com/albums/b258/M...&current=6.jpg

2.) Click Next and select the Network adapter you want for your Internet connection.

3.) Click Next.

4.) When the message box appears saying that you must create a Client disc, click Next.

5.) When the Insert Disk dialog box appears, insert the disc and click OK.

6.) When the message appears saying the Client disc is created, click OK.

7.)Click Finish.

Note: This Client configuration disc is not necessary for the Xbox network connection.

8.) Remove the Client disc and Installation disc.

9.) Restart your computer.

Verifying ICS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.)Choose Start>Settings.

2.) Right-click Network Neighborhood and select Properties.

In the Configuration window, Internet Connection Sharing is listed several times.

3.) Select TCP/IP (Home) and click Properties.
The IP address 192.168.0.1 should be automatically entered.

Sorry bub, but a crossover cable is NOT a patch cable. They are completely different in how they work. I know what I am talking about, I have 2 extra patch cables and one crossover cable, and unless you have a router or another device that can alter the signal paths, (so it doesn't matter which you use because it has auto-detect and configures itself accordingly) then you will need a crossover cable if you are going from PC to anything other then a router, switch, gateway, or auto configuring hardware. Otherwise, you need a patch cable unless otherwise stated.

You're right... it doesn't 'slow down Live' however it does ruin the game experience for everyone in the room with what ever jerk offs try this.

I used to have a 150K connection that worked okay for live (not for hosting tho) and on a slow night my Bike on MotoGP would glitch and jump around the track like a bugger on everyone elses screens.

Its not worth using 56K it really isn't and it shouldn't be encouraged.

I agree using 56K would not be good for the other players in the LIVE session. Also the glitching will not help either and you might get some feedback sent back to Microsoft for cheating as this may eventually knock you off LIVE. Broadband is the way to go!!

The speed is enough but wireless, well, that could be the problem. If the connection is good with interrupting then it could be fine. But when your playing and someone uses a wireless phone turns a microwave on or something like that things could get laggy.

There are enough problems with connections not being up to par as it is. PLEASE do not do this.

Well, base it off the game. Some games only send like 5K if that over the net. (Position on the map, and the name as well as what weapon is held) Now, something like DOA 4, don't bother. But if I was stuck with Dialup, I would just use that for the market place.
